Let’s overtake the disease | In collaboration with Open Onlus!
Let’s help children who have overcome cancer to defeat it and overcome it for good,!!! We fund treatment for children in hospitals in Genoa and Naples through the Paediatric Oncology and Neuroblastoma Association – Open Onlus. Every year in Italy, thanks to current treatments, about 75% of children suffering from cancer, , get better and join the Long-Term Cancer Survivors group. However, these children need specific medical references – also in order to monitor recurrences – which cannot be guaranteed by ordinary paediatric care or by adult cancer centres. The project is aimed at all children (around 500 divided between Genoa and Naples) who are declared cured every year by the Gaslini paediatric oncological care centre in Genoa and the Pausilipon paediatric oncological care centre in Naples. The project’s aim is to: include children who are out-of-therapy in specific monitoring and therapeutic programs, ensure periodic check-ups, collect data on former patients and their clinical paths, send the data to the national computer database, and hand over the Passports of the Cured.
