RiDiamo supported the Donne all’Opera project to say no to violence against women.
From an idea of Francesca Ascioti, opera singer and founder of the Enea Barock Orchestra, six world-class female singers and an all-female orchestra of 22 musicians led by Valeria Montanari, as concert master, came together for the first time in the panorama of Baroque music to travel across a gallery of moods and emotions through a selection of arias from the Baroque opera repertoire of the early eighteenth century with music by Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Friedrich Händel, Johann Adolf Hasse, and many others. The event saw the special appearance of Maria Grazia Cucinotta and Elisa Di Francisca.
Donne all’opera – comments Francesca Ascioti, singer and artistic director – arises from an important need: to make all women who are victims of violence, think and react through music, the only universal language. Violence means lack of comunication, inability to listen, emptiness. We want to respond to this evil with a song of revolt, because we believe that music is also freedom.
For the first time, Enea Barock Orchestra is tinged in pink, to sing songs of revolt, of peace and of encouragement to say “enough is enough”.
“The long months of lockdown – comments Giovanni Nardulli, Vice President of RiDiamo Onlus – have made the toll of domestic violence against women, often witnessed helplessly by their children, even more dramatic. For this reason, RiDiamo deeply wanted this event, supporting the creation and organisation of Donne all’Opera. In the future, our hope is to bring this beautiful concert and its strong message into crowded theatres, in order to make it even stronger.”
In addition to the uniqueness of the event, the concert set the noble aim of supporting the non-profit organisations WeWorld and Vite senza paura, which are actively committed to developing projects dedicated to women who have been victims of violence.
